The American Law Institute (ALI) announced the election of 69 new members, including Reagan Simpson, who is one of five elected lawyers located in Texas. The new group includes highly accomplished individuals in many areas of law, who are recognized both nationally and internationally. This year’s group includes 15 jurists, 29 practicing lawyers, and 25 scholars from 24 states, the District of Columbia, and an international member from Austria.
ALI is the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law. Made up of 4,000 lawyers, judges and law professors of the highest qualifications, the Institute drafts, discusses, revises and publishes Restatements of the Law, model statutes, and principles of law that are enormously influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal scholarship and education.
By participating in the Institute’s work, its distinguished members have the opportunity to influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, to work with other eminent lawyers, judges, and academics, to give back to a profession to which they are deeply dedicated, and to contribute to the public good.
