The State Bar of Texas Appellate Section inducted Greg Coleman into the Texas Appellate Hall of Fame last week in Austin.
In 2011, the State Bar Appellate Section and the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society recognized that from the mid-1850’s-to the present day, a distinguished group of judges, attorneys, and court personnel have made unique contributions to the practice of appellate law in the State of Texas. The Section and the Society decided that these individuals are deserving of special recognition so their efforts, results, intellect, and sacrifice on behalf of State citizens will be memorialized for generations to come.
Admission to the Hall of Fame is open to attorneys, judges and court personnel who are no longer living. Nominees are considered based upon written and oral appellate advocacy, professionalism, faithful service to citizens of the State, mentorship of newer appellate attorneys, pro bono service, and other indicia of practice excellence. This year, Greg, along with Justice Tom Clark (the only Texan on the U.S. Supreme Court) were named inductees.
In making remarks on Greg’s behalf during the induction ceremony, Paul Yetter, noted, ” How many of us hope and pray to leave a lasting, positive impact on all those we encounter? Greg did just that. He was an appellate all-star —and man— of the highest order.”
