Yetter Coleman proudly announces that partner Amy Farish was recently featured on the HBA’s Behind The Lines: The Houston Lawyer Podcast. The November/December episode, themed “Giving Back,” showcases inspiring stories of Houston lawyers making a difference through pro bono work.
Amy, partner and the firm’s pro bono coordinator, shared insights from a significant immigration case she and the team handled. She emphasized the importance of lawyers offering pro bono services, even in areas outside their usual expertise, and highlighted the personal and professional growth opportunities such experiences offer.
The podcast, which aligns with Section 6 of the Preamble to the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Conduct, also features several prominent Houston legal professionals discussing their pro bono experiences:
- Hon. David Hittner, Senior U.S. District Court Judge, recounted a formative criminal pro bono case from his early career.
- Maryam Ghaffar, an associate at Beck Redden and HYLA Pro Bono and Service Committee Chair, discussed her work on a complex Hague Convention case.
- Melanie Bragg of Bragg Law PC led listeners through a holiday wellness exercise.
- Andrew Lehmann from Houston Volunteer Lawyers shared insights on their weekly Veterans clinics at Michael E. DeBakey VA Hospital.
These stories collectively underscore the legal community’s commitment to providing free legal services to those in need, a moral obligation for all lawyers. Also, read the companion edition of The Houston Lawyer Magazine’s Nov/Dec issue, “Making a Meaningful Difference.”
