A class action was filed by Children’s Rights, a national advocacy group, in an effort to institute widespread reform on behalf of 12,000 children who are currently in the Texas foster care system. With the support of Yetter Coleman, Haynes & Boone, and Canales & Simonson, M.D. v. Perry was filed against Texas’s Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) charging that the constitutional rights violations of children who have been in the Texas foster care system for at least a year and failing to ensure their safety and well-being while in its custody.
