Opportunity & Belonging

Our number one priority, always, is excellence in representing our clients. That’s why we’re here and what we do.

As attorneys, we also believe we have an ethical responsibility to do our part to improve our legal and business community. That’s the basis of both our pro bono practice and our efforts to remove barriers for previously marginalized groups within our profession. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we believe our strength lies in respecting and valuing each of our team members’ perspectives, skills, and contributions.

Our attorneys are actively engaged in organizations that promote representation, inclusion, and belonging, both through our firmwide pro bono efforts and their individual commitments.

These include:

  • Houston Area Women’s Center
  • Women’s Energy Network
  • Anti-Defamation League
  • LAMBDA Legal
  • The Appellate Project
  • Texas Access to Justice
  • Texas Minority Counsel Program
  • National Veterans Legal Services Program
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars
  • Houston Urban Debate League
  • Hispanic National Bar Association
  • Asian American Bar Association

Our lawyers’ participation in these and other diversity-related programs and initiatives receives full billable credit toward bonus eligibility – up to ten hours a year. This includes time spent attending affinity events. All lawyers are eligible for this billable credit.

At Yetter Coleman, we also focus on informal, internal support for the inclusion and advancement of all team members, and ongoing efforts by firm management and the partnership to ensure that every voice is heard and valued. Case assignments, client contact, performance evaluations – these are all the fundamental, day-to-day aspects of law firm life where, in ways large and small, we strive to support a diverse team of lawyers and staff.

Teamwork and collegiality are the raw material of our success. These values are a fundamental part of our culture, our heritage, and our future. They also drive our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment – one that empowers every lawyer and staff member to contribute meaningfully to our work and the communities in which we live.
