Chuck F. Matula

Associate

Chuck is a trial attorney who focuses on complex commercial litigation. He represents plaintiffs and defendants across a variety of commercial sectors including technology, oil and gas, financial services, private equity, and cannabis.

Representative matters include:

  • Represented upstream operator in seven-day trial in breach of contract and fraud action brought by business partner, winning a full defense verdict;
  • Defended publicly traded energy company in patent infringement case and won complete dismissal of infringement claims and a multimillion dollar recovery on antitrust counterclaims;
  • Defended numerous large technology companies against antitrust claims, brought by government and private class-action plaintiffs.

Chuck also maintains an active pro bono docket, representing disadvantaged consumers in consumer protection cases and the families of disabled children in guardianship proceedings.

Chuck received his J.D., cum laude, from Duke University School of Law where he served as the Managing Editor of Law & Contemporary Problems and as an Editor of the Duke Law & Technology Review. Before joining the firm, Chuck was a law clerk for the Honorable David Hittner, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Prior to law school, Chuck worked as a healthcare consultant. He also interned at the White House Council of Economic Advisers and studied derivatives pricing at the London School of Economics.
